Secondary Wood Products Company Honored

January 29nd, 2008

The Lane Metro Partnership has selected NEWOOD Display Fixture Manufacturing Company for the Lane Council of Governments (LCOG) Regional Award of Merit for Economic Enhancement. NEWOOD was honored at LCOG’s Annual Appreciation Dinner January 24.

"We have been in community 28-years; it is nice to be acknowledged for our work. Thank you for the award," commented NEWOOD’S president and owner, Gerry Moshofsky.

NEWOOD produces standard and custom retail display fixtures such as shelving for clothing outlets and wine cabinets for liquor and grocery stores. Market of Choice, University of Oregon Bookstore and the Duck Store use NEWOOD products locally. NEWOOD is shipping product from their Eugene manufacturing plant to customers in the United States, Asia, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.

"NEWOOD is a Lane County success story and deserving of the award of merit. At a time when most other wood products companies in Oregon are suffering from a sluggish economy and foreign competition, NEWOOD is making new investments to improve their competitive position and expand their market," said Executive Director Jack Roberts of the Lane Metro Partnership.

NEWOOD is moving forward with a 16,000 square foot expansion in their west Eugene facility consolidating all three of their operations to one location. NEWOOD will invest more than $1,000,000 in building expansion and new equipment. NEWOOD expects to retain 68 jobs and create at least 25 new wood products jobs.
