Utilities

Lane County offers inexpensive, high-quality utilities. Water is clean and abundant. A plentiful, reliable and affordable supply of electrical power and natural gas greatly reduces utility costs for industrial, commercial and residential users. In fact, electricity is furnished at less than a nickel per kilowatt hour for industrial users, and hydroelectric dams provide adequate and reliable electricity year round. Electric power is furnished at among the lowest rates in the country. Natural gas is provided by Northwest Natural, the largest supplier of natural gas in the Northwest. Other necessary utilities, including disposal and solid wastewater management systems, are in place to accommodate development and expansion at local commercial and industrial sites. Personal attention is high; Lane County’s utilities have friendly staff that are readily available to assist with energy-efficient design, energy tax credits and other cost-saving measures.
